It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
